    The Carlsbad Village Faire is the largest single day street fair in the United States with over 900 vendors selling just about everything a visitor could imagine, like clothes, plants, art, and accessories. There is a pancake breakfast, entertainment, and International cuisine in over 50 food booths.

    The Fallbrook Avocado Festival is exactly what it sounds like; a festival dedicated to the green fruit called the avocado, located in what is widely considered the "Avocado Capital of the World", Fallbrook, CA. The festival has been held since the 1960s and attracts over 70,000 visitors from all over the country for avocado sampling, cooking contests, avocado-themed items, and general entertainment.

    Temecula:

    Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival is a weekend event with hot air balloons launches at dawn, evening balloon glows, wine tastings from over 20 local wineries, a kids faire, and concerts. Entertainment has included big name artists like The Beach Boys in 1991 and more recently, country singer Blake Shelton and the group Five For Fighting.

    The Temecula Valley Museum is dedicated to preserving the local history and culture of the Temecula Valley area through various exhibits designed to show what life was like throughout its history. There is a large collection of mostly 20th century household objects, a "touchable" children's exhibit featuring an 1880s play stove, a dress shop, and puppet shows, and more. One of the permanent exhibits is the Erle Stanley Gardner exhibit, dedicated to the author of the wildly popular Perry Mason mystery series and longtime Temecula resident.

    The Temecula area is home to over 35 wineries and vineyards and therefore rich in tours, samples, and wine country getaways.

    San Diego:

    The Miramar Air Show is the largest military air show in the USA, with representatives of every aircraft-using military and governmental branch and service, with many demonstrations, most importantly the MAGTF Demo simulated aerial assault.

    The Dinner Detective is the largest murder mystery and comedy dinner show in the country. Over a 4 course dinner a murder will have to be solved, but watch out, because performers are among the diners! The Dinner Detective has won "Best Dinner Show" multiple years in a row.

    Comic-Con is one of the largest comic book conventions in the world, drawing over 130,000 visitors in recent years and filling the San Diego Convention Center to capacity and beyond. It started in 1970 as the first comic book convention in Southern California and is a place for fans of comics and science fiction or fantasy literature and films to gather in one place to celebrate those arts.

    San Diego Beer Week is actually a 10 day festival celebrating the local beer and breweries and San Diego's rich brewing history. San Diego breweries have recently won dozens of awards at the World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Festivals, bringing home more than England, Germany and Belgium combined.

    The San Diego Black Film Festival is one of the largest of its kind in the United States. This week long festival is dedicated to preserving and sharing African American and African Diaspora cinema through over 100 film screenings across many genres.
